Kimberley Granite Quarries Pty Ltd (KGQ) was incorporated in 2011 to explore and develop a granite rock quarry in West Kimberley to service the growing demand of construction materials in the area. A prospective area of significant size was identified south east of Fitzroy Crossing after aerial surveys were conducted across various potential Kimberley quarries.
The KGQ Kimberley Quarry site is located approximately 35 km from the town of Fitzroy Crossing in West Kimberley. The project area is known as Fitzroy South Quarry and covers approximately 3,700 hectares of granite outcropping formations.
KGQ has been granted full mining approval from the Department of Minerals and Petroleum for the extraction of granite from the Fitzroy South Quarry site. The company has spent a number of years working with the stakeholders and government departments to achieve full project ready status.
KGQ is currently in discussions with a number of organisations to secure customer off-take commitments. Full site development will commence once the finalisation of contractual agreements is completed.
The Fitzroy South Project has been planned to deliver a wide range of high specification products from the granite source. The product range will include large +5 tonne armour material to finely crushed and washed aggregates.
